Redefining Residential Shared Spaces in Historical London block

A sensitive refurbishment of an UHNW residential block’s shared spaces, balancing heritage preservation with an elevated, contemporary resident experience.

Situation

Solution

Brand‑led spatial refinement — Established a cohesive visual and material language across all shared spaces, ensuring every intervention reinforced the building’s identity with clarity, subtlety and consistency.

Resident experience reconfiguration — Replanned circulation routes and key touchpoints to improve flow, comfort and intuitive wayfinding, elevating daily interactions for residents and visitors.

Live‑site delivery — Coordinated closely with building managers and contractors to phase works within an occupied building, sequencing activities to minimise disruption, maintain safety and uphold service standards throughout construction.

Heritage preservation — Directed the restoration and protection of original architectural features, ensuring all design decisions respected the building’s historic character while meeting contemporary performance expectations.

Curated art integration — Selected and placed artwork that complemented the refreshed interiors, strengthening the building’s identity and enhancing the emotional and aesthetic quality of the spaces.

Rotating art programme — proposed and developed a structured rotation art strategy to keep the environment evolving, support emerging artists and create a distinctive, market‑differentiating cultural layer within the building.

An ultra prime residential block’s shared spaces were dated, visually diluted and fragmented. The challenge was to elevate the resident experience while protecting the architectural character that defines the building’s identity.

Outcome

A set of shared spaces that feel cohesive, elevated and authentically connected to the building’s heritage. Circulation is improved, original features are sensitively restored, and the curated art programme introduces a dynamic, contemporary edge. The refurbishment strengthens the building’s identity, enhances resident experience and positions the asset competitively within the prime residential market.
