Wellness Studio Refurbishment
A holistic wellness concept centred on gong baths and curated retail, developed for a derelict retail unit in Clerkenwell. The project combined spatial design, sensory experience planning, acoustic strategy and brand development, culminating in a full tender‑ready proposal before being halted due to Covid‑19.

Scope and Responsibilities
Brand creation — Defined the brand identity for Gong, shaping its visual language, experiential values and customer journey across wellness, retail and community programming.
Experience architecture — Designed an immersive spatial narrative tailored to sound‑based wellness, integrating lighting, materiality and flow to support deep listening and meditative practice.
Acoustic strategy — Incorporated acoustic treatments essential for gong baths, balancing reverberation, sound containment and tonal clarity within a compact urban unit.
Adaptable workshop design — Planned flexible layouts and modular elements that allowed the studio to transform for various workshops, classes and community events without compromising the core wellness experience.
Derelict‑to‑destination refurbishment — Developed a full refurbishment strategy for a neglected retail space, addressing structural issues, environmental upgrades and spatial reconfiguration.
Retail integration — Designed a small retail zone aligned with the brand’s ethos, ensuring seamless transition between commercial and experiential areas.
Tender‑ready documentation — Produced complete design proposals, specifications and tender packages ready for contractor pricing and mobilisation.
Client collaboration — Worked closely with the founders to align brand vision, operational needs and spatial functionality.
Project pause — Although the project was halted due to Covid‑19, the design package established a clear, scalable foundation for future development.
Outcome
A fully conceived wellness and retail concept that transformed a derelict unit into a branded, acoustically considered and highly adaptable experience — with complete tender‑ready documentation prepared prior to Covid‑related suspension.
